Classic Hair Bands: Steelheart – I’ll Never Let You Go

The one thing that’s most memorable about Steelheart for me is lead singer, Michael Matijevic’s ability to hit some really high notes. He definitely gave other metal lead singers a run for their money.

“I’ll Never Let You Go” by Steelheart was massive on MTV, receiving a lot of heavy rotation on MTV (when they use to play videos) on their “video block” concept. Check it out.

Classic Hair Bands: Lita Ford – Close My Eyes Forever

I avoided female metal acts (cough…Vixen…cough) like the plague because I just didn’t like any of their music. That was true until Lita Ford’s duet with Ozzy Osbourne on “Close My Eyes Forever.” This is one of my favorite power ballads. Enjoy.

Classic Hair Bands: Great White – One Bitten, Twice Shy

Before Great White resurfaced into the headlines with the horrible club fire that killed 100 people, the band made some pretty good rock music. My favorite from them is “Once Bitten, Twice Shy.” Other than their cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You,” this is my favorite song from the group.

Tina Turner Returns: Grammy 2008 Performance

In case you missed the snooze fest (aka the 2008 Grammy Awards), Tina Turner performed shortened versions of “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” “Better Be Good to Me,” and my favorite tune, “Proud Mary” with Beyonce. Check out the video versions below.

Tina looks amazing! I was happy to see her pop up at the Grammy Awards, but…I must admit the performance was underwhelming. Read more

Now That’s Passion!

I’ve been following the production of R&B producer Ryan Leslie for quite some time. His work continuously impresses me with the futuristic sounds of his production style.

Over the past few years, I’ve seen other videos of producers in the studio creating new music, but Leslie seems to bring an enjoyment and passion that you can’t help but notice and admire. It’s obvious that he really enjoys and loves making music. While Leslie can get a little showy in his videos, the passion he has for music is genuine. Just look at his face while he’s doing his thing in the studio. He lives for this!
